How Coffee Was Traditionally Made
Before the percolator and other similar coffee making machine were invented, coffee was traditionally made by ‘cooking’ the ground beans in water in a saucepan. It was then poured into a pot through a sieve to separate the grounds from the liquid. It did seem a lot of work especially if you’re rushing around and need to dose up in the mornings. Another popular device for grinding beans is the burr coffee grinder
The coffee’s popularity as a drink can be perceived through the number of inventions and modifications to the espresso coffee making machine over the last century. A lot of the systems separated the grounds from the finished product. There was the balanced siphon and the ever popular vacuum brewer.
