Discount Faux Wood Blinds Help Stop Deforestation

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Modern materials are getting to be much higher quality these days for less of a cost. In the case of discount faux wood blinds you have the advantage of knowing that you’re not adding to deforestation either. I’m not sure of the environmental impact of the process that produces cheap faux wood blinds and what sort of pollution and carbon footprint is involved, but at least I know that one problem isn’t created. It seems so hard to take into account everything when purchasing products these days and I hope that businesses find a way to be both profitable and responsible.

Antique Oil Lamps: Pressurized Vs Wick Lamps

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

In the 1800s through the first part of the 20th century oil lamps were the major source of lighting in U.S. homes. If you are out on a weekend at flea markets or yard sales you might notice some antique lamps collectors. For most collectors this means oil lamps. Oil lamps which are antique lamps are usually divided into two types: pressure lamps or wick lamps. Wick lamps have a reservoir for oil with a wick suspended in the oil and then threaded through a holder and topped by a glass chimney. A pressure lamp uses air to pressurize the oil and a mantle to contain and burn the oil.

Your furniture is basically the foundation of a room and the decorations around it is the accents. Where you place the furniture in your interior design will make all the difference on how the overall look of the room will turn out. There is a tip that many people take advantage of and that is if you have a smaller room but have the room to have your sofa or chair pulled away from the wall, this placement of your furniture will in turn make your room look bigger. This is a trick from many designers - the people who get the good interior decorating jobs - to help people make their rooms stand out more.

How to Fill Your Child’s Easter Basket this Year

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Are you clueless about what to put in your child’s Easter basket this year? Don’t be clueless! There is a huge variety of ideas for filling Easter baskets, for children of all ages if you put your imagination and creativity to good use.  If you are clever enough, your basket will be a bigger hit than the Easter egg hunt!  The first thing you should do is buy a basket for each child. The color of basket can depend upon your child’s favorite color, or the fact that you want all of your baskets to be a different color as to not cause any confusion when your children are frantically searching the house for their Easter baskets on Easter morning.  Be sure to buy plenty of bright Easter grass, for the basket in a coordinating color, as well.  Easter grass will give the impression that your basket is fuller than it really is, so you do not have to fill it with quite as many supplies.

Start by filling several colorful plastic easter egg with candy, stickers, Easter shaped erasers, or even loose change (the older kids love that idea!).  Once you have finished filling the plastic eggs, put them on top of the Easter grass inside of the Easter basket.  Then, fill in the empty spots in the Easter basket with an assortment of gifts.  They can be surprises that are elaborate or simple, depending on your Easter basket budget.   Your children will love all of the special attention that the Easter bunny paid to their basket this year!

Funky Interior Design Ideas For Your Bedroom

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

If you are a teenager looking to add some funk and spark to your bedroom, begin with the walls; try covering them with wallpapers displaying the things you like. You can use wallpaper full of guitars, if you like music. Or otherwise too, go for wallpapers with amazing patterns.

One of the other funky interior design ideas that you can use is to paint the room all over again. The paint color should be such that goes well with the over all look of the room. Go for paint with a faux texture design or shines and shimmers. This will help to liven up your bedroom.

Try decorating your walls with a fabric like silk or cotton. It works well to cover your bedroom’s damaged walls.

Interior Design Ideas: The Color Wheel

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

The color wheel is a wheel that consists of the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. interior design ideas must include this factor. Primary colors are the basic three colors—red, yellow, and blue. Each secondary color is a combination of two primary colors.—violet (red and blue), orange (red and yellow), and green (yellow and blue). When a primary color is mixed with a secondary, the result is a tertiary color. There are six of these: yellow-orange, yellow-green, red-orange, red-violet, blue-green, and blue-violet. Your neutrals consist of black, white, brown, and gray. When you are testing interior design ideas, you must choose colors that look right together

Making the pathway visible

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I have a really dark path in my garden, and once it goes dark I really don’t want to spend any time in there. However, after talking to a neighbor recently, I decided to try to brighten the place up, and I did this with the use of Solar Pathway Lights, which not only give very good lighting for the garden but are also fairly cheap to run into the bargain. My garden now look very inviting, even in the nighttime, and I am really glad I took my neighbors advice in this matter.
