Consider security and looks while doing garden fencing

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

When I moved into my new house, I had got all furniture and fixture in place in advance. The only thing which was left pending to be done was the Garden Fencing, for which I was unable to decide the style and pattern. With such a beautiful garden in front of my house I needed something which can be ornamental to its looks and can also serve the purpose of security. I had a large number of options such as concrete fencing, bamboo fencing, metal fencing, steel fencing etc. I was quite confused until I took professional advise of a landscape designer who advised me to go for a metal fencing in rail forms which will enhance the look of my garden.

Insecticide For Caterpillars

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Someone has been eating my lettuce. Look I knwo it's only natural but somehow it anniys the living day lights out of me when I've gone to all the effort of planting and growing my own produce to finally get to reap the rewards of my harvest only to find things like caterpillars have gnored away at it. I don't like to use caterpillar insecticide but if I find a non chemical one I will. Of course they are not the only creepy crawlers I have problems with but what do you? Use insecticides which cause more harm then good or put up with them destroying my garden?

John Deere lawnmowers are really great

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I had been looking to buy some new gardening tools for quite a long time and as part of this I decided I needed to buy some things to keep my lawn in much better shape. I really did not know what to buy, and so I took the advice of a friend who is a keen gardener, and she suggested that I take a look at the range of John Deere Lawnmowers that are available, because she said they have some really great models and I were sure to find one that I liked. I took her advice and I’m really glad I did because I did find a lawn mower that really suits me.

Growing bonsai trees is not as hard as it sounds

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The ancient art of growing bonsai trees continues to gain steadily in new converts to this compact and miniature form of gardening. Bonsai originated from the Far East and was originally practiced by monks and royalty. Eventually, common people started adopting this form of container gardening, and its popularity spread.

Now, bonsai has spread its wings across the entire world, and has found favor among urbanites who find its low demands on space, and the fact that it is not really messy to grow, appealing. Also, the thought of growing real trees in a container and managing, even styling their appearance; this is a fanciful and highly specialized form of gardening!

Many people think that bonsai is tough. But, in reality, it is no harder than growing a plot of vegetables. Each individual tree has specific needs to tend to. But, when its needs are fulfilled, a bonsai tree can reward the owner by putting on the most elegant of shows.

Watering and feeding are important aspects of bonsai, which can improve with time and practice. And bonsai trees do not really have big needs, since their size is small to begin with. Once you have become proficient in watering and feeding, you can move on to the real delights of bonsai, namely, styling or training your bonsai to look the way you want it to. and it is then that you find growing bonsai trees is more art than gardening!

Gardening with knowledge and purpose

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Gardening is one of the simple pleasures of life, which many of us take for granted. In these hectic times, and stress-laden rat race, gardening affords us a little “time-out” which we can use to recharge our batteries, and burn off that unhealthy stress.

Normally, what we consider as gardening is pottering about in our backyards and hoeing the soil, and dropping seeds into the earth. Which is all true, but how many of us actually get into the spirit and purpose of gardening?

Gardening actually is a science that requires a certain amount of passion to unlock its secrets. Within the hallowed vaults of the gardening gods, we have access to a bountiful harvest, but it it comes with a price - constant learning. We learn how to read the weather, we learn how to control the pests, and we learn when is a good time to plant, and when is a good time to reap.

The purpose of gardening is to commune with nature. This is a link which we cannot toss away, or else we will find that we lose our a bit of our humanity when we cast away the earthy aspect of our makeup. Gardening is a way to get in touch with ourselves, and our roots which lie in the earth. What could be more simple and pleasurable?

Greenhouse plans are needed to get it right

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

This is one advice I give free and uninvited to everyone: don’t construct a greenhouse without Greenhouse Plans. The entire experience ends up in fiasco and there is a big mess everywhere around you. You suddenly realize that there is no outlet for water, that the sunlight is not falling where you had thought, the house doesn’t warm up enough, there is scarcity of space and you can’t have all the plants that you intended…a total mess! Don’t ever try to save on cost by avoiding a greenhouse plan. It tends to become a very costly mistake and pulling down and constructing a new one is what no-one would like. So either you live with the shoddy greenhouse or you get it built again, this time with a professional help.

Backyard Water For Birds

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Water is one of the most important requirements of birds, without water birds can't live for long time. It is necessary to make arrangements of water in the back yard; most preferably water can be kept in the middle of the backyard bird gardens. Birds can also be easily attracted by keeping backyard bird feeders. It is necessary to keep bird feeder at secure location, where no animal can reach. One can keep bird feeder at certain height from ground. One can keep bird feeder hanging on branch of tree or on pole.

Gardening Scissors

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Garden scissors also used for gardening. Though garden scissors look similar to any ordinary craft scissors they are of great use. Garden scissors are usually used for handling works that are on a much smaller scale and those that needs detailing. They are mostly used for trimming of bonsai plants and trees and also for deadheading. They are also commonly used for fresh herbs cutting. Garden scissors are very efficient in their works and are a must for gardening and aesthetic purpose. Garden scissors are greatly used for topiary use. Make sure you have a sturdy backyard rake

 to clean up your mess.

Make Money With Worm Breeding

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

I recently met my long time friend who had been working in a small company. I was truly shocked when I saw her as she seemed to have come into lots of money and looked successful.

I asked her how she had made her money and she told me all about her worm breeding venture which she had taken up on a small scale first and it had slowly developed into a large scale venture.

Why Use Cypress?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Nothing will prevent Cypress hammock stand executives mouth kicking off a whole month of highjinks on July 1 with its Elizabethan Revelries and following up with such compelling events as the Armada tea dance, the strawberry and mead costumed picnic, the Armada Cup yacht race from San Sebastian, the Armada street painting competition, the Armada flower festival, the costumed bowls match between New Plymouth, New Zealand, and Plymouth, England, and - almost inevitably - the It's an Amanda Knockout. Then Thurrock takes over. Queen Elizabeth - played by a 'star personality' currently, and jealously, under wraps - will leave London's Tower Pier on August 6 and, rowed by 10 watermen in Tudor livery in the same replica of the royal barge that was used in the film A Man For All Seasons, will enter Tilbury Fort by the water gate.
