Energy efficient vinyl replacement windows

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Many older homes are still equipped with single pane windows, because that was the norm for windows in the time period when they were built. Modern vinyl replacement windows come with dual panes which will not allow air to circulate between the inside and outside of your house the way single panes will. Therefore, they can make a massive difference in the energy efficiency in your home and the cost of your utility bills. Many vinyl windows come with a UV coating on the glass in order to block the harmful rays from the sun that fade your carpets and furniture.

Re-roofing Our House the Right Way

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I know that there were a lot of things that the home owners before us did wrong, but one of the worst ones was the roof. We had no idea how bad we would need to replace it before it got worse. We need to find the best roofing materials to make sure that it is done right this time. We need to make sure that it does not leak, and it does not weather the way the last roof did. I know it can be done if we get the best quality products. Now I just need to find the best deal.

Relaxing stuff

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

My mother in law is moving in with us. We have an extra bedroom and bath that are right next to each other. I am hoping to make the two rooms into a suite for her comfort and privacy. Due to her age and limited mobility her doctor recommended that I get one of those walk in bath tubs. I thought I would die because all I could think of is those bath showers that you find in the hospital, but to my pleasant surprise they have improved the style quite greatly to include walk in Jacuzzi Bathtubs and whirlpools to look quite luxurious.

Shopping for Vertical Blinds

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Today I went shopping for window treatments for my new living room and bedrooms.  I want something homey yet contemporary, easy care and protective.  It gets really cold here in the North, so the windows need insulation to protect from the cold air; but the flip side is the reflected sun off the snow–and the midnight sun for the three months of summer!  So I went in knowing I wanted some sort of Fabric Vertical Blinds, and started off looking at insulated vertical blinds, designer vertical blinds, cloth vertical blinds, soft vertical blinds, uv protected blinds, custom fabric blinds and honeycomb horizontals. Still not sure which one I’ll get, but I have a better idea of what’s available now.

Nora Rubber Flooring

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

When I came to redesign my kitchen last year one of the biggest decisions that I had to make was what type of flooring to put down, and it was only after talking to a friend I decided that I would install Nora rubber flooring. I decided to hire a professional contractor to do it for me, and he made such a great job that I have recommended to say this is to several of my friends. It really does pay to get the highest quality possible.

Find Out How You Can Actually Start Making Money By Installing Solar Panels

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

You know how they say that you’ve got to spend money to make money?  Well, the same thing could be said for installing solar panels for your home, except that I guess it would be more like, you’ve got to spend money to save money.  No one ever said that making your home self sufficient when it comes to energy was going to be cheap, but thanks to all of the tax breaks, and incentives that you can get from both your state and the government, you will find that your solar powered home can pay itself off pretty quickly, which means you’ll actually be “making money” in a sense once it’s paid for itself.

Thoughts On Prefab Steel Buildings

Friday, June 5th, 2009

It’s time I got to work learning about Prefab Steel Buildings.
I’ve been needing some more storage space for a while, now. The closets are getting overloaded. Prefab Steel Buildings have been recommended to me.
I’ve been checking out Prefabricated Steel Buildings, and I like what I have seen so far.
Hopefully I’ll be able to expand without too much pain.
I’ll keep you posted.

Buy the Right Kind of Patio Flooring

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Are you the kind of person who likes to sit out on the patio during the summer to enjoy the outdoors?  If so, then you do not want bad-looking flooring because it will be something that will be seen quite often.  There are several types of patio flooring available, ranging from patio blocks and mats to wood layering.  The type of flooring used should depend on the climate; you wouldn’t want to use a stone flooring that can trap and release heat easily in a very hot climate, or an unprotected wood flooring in a rainy climate.  When checking out new flooring for patios, keep in mind the climate and how the flooring will look compared to the rest of the house.

The best exercise

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

When you really want to make your patio look great I believe there is nothing better than choosing something from the wide range of Outdoor Floor Tiles that are now available, particularly from some of the many flooring websites that are now available. I did this a few months ago and I can see that I certainly made the right decision.

The right article

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I believe that you should always take as much time as possible when it comes to choosing something for your house, and this is especially true when you choose a bathtub, because there are many different styles out there. A few months ago I saw some really nice Asian Tubs at my local bathroom design center, and I knew I just had to have one for my house. It really is a great looking bathtub.
