The Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) is a standardized test given to students in 3rd grade through 8th grade. The connecticut mastery test is designed to measure mastery of certain subjects—namely reading, writing, and math—and rate it on a five-point scale. A score of 5 indicates “advanced,” 4 indicates “goal,” 3 indicates “proficient,” 2 indicates “basic,” and 1 indicates “below basic.” The testing used to be given to students in 4th, 6th, and 8th grade, but the passage of the No Child Left Behind act required testing to be done every year.
