When a single regime decides to block a maritime chokepoint responsible for a fifth of global oil and gas shipments, the ripple effects are immediate and catastrophic.
A Suicidal Disregard For Their Own People
What makes this current wave of Iranian aggression so incredibly difficult to comprehend is the sheer recklessness involved. The regime is not just attacking its neighbours; it is actively inviting utter devastation upon its own citizens.
By aggressively escalating this conflict and refusing to reopen vital trade routes, Iran's leadership has baited massive retaliation. We are already seeing the devastating consequences, with critical bridges and infrastructure inside Iran taking heavy fire, and severe ultimatums warning of imminent strikes on civilian power plants.
They are effectively destroying their own country from the inside out, using their citizens as collateral damage in a war of attrition.
The Green Energy Reality Check: Time To Drill
As someone who has been watching the shipping costs skyrocket and the panic at local petrol stations unfold firsthand over the last month, a very uncomfortable reality has set in. For the past decade, the Western world has been completely obsessed with the transition to green energy. We have championed solar, wind, and sweeping environmental policies while deliberately slowing down our own domestic oil and gas production.
This crisis has brutally exposed the fatal flaw in that strategy. Whatever grand green energy plans the world had, they need to be shelved immediately.
Energy Security is National Security: We cannot continue to rely on hostile nations or deeply unstable regions to keep our lights on and our supermarkets stocked.
The Transition is Too Slow: Electric vehicles and wind turbines simply cannot replace the millions of barrels of crude oil currently trapped in the Persian Gulf overnight.
Immediate Action Required: The only logical way to survive this orchestrated global paralysis is to aggressively ramp up domestic production. We need to start drilling for our own energy resources right now.
