JAISWAL CENTURY CAPS OFF INDIA’S DOMINANT WIN OVER SOUTH AFRICA
On a night where starts counted more than promises, India put the finishing touches on a gritty South Africa side with a commanding nine-wicket win in the third and deciding ODI at Visakhapatnam. That was enough for the host country to secure a hard-fought 2–1 series victory.
The star of the evening was the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who smashed his maiden ODI century, an unbeaten 116 off 121 balls, steering India home with composure and flair.
He got key early support from Rohit Sharma, who contributed a solid 75, before veteran Virat Kohli finished things off with an elegant, unbeaten 65 from just 45 balls.
Earlier, South Africa looked in decent shape at 168 for 2 thanks largely to a 106-ball hundred from Quinton de Kock and a solid 48 from captain Temba Bavuma. But once India’s bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna, struck, the Proteas collapsed, losing eight wickets for just 102 more runs.
Defending just 270 on a pitch offering movement and with dew creeping in later, India didn’t let nerves take over. Instead, they batted with clarity and purpose. From 0-1 down in the series, to bouncing back and sealing victory in style.
With this win, India now sits 40 wins to South Africa’s 51 in their all-time ODI rivalry.
