LANDO NORRIS TAKES THE 2025 F1 CROWN IN ABU DHABI
The final act of the 2025 season played out at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and by the time the chequered flag dropped, Lando Norris had done what many thought impossible.
With a calm and calculated third-place finish, he clinched his maiden Formula 1 World Championship, edging out last year’s champion Max Verstappen by just two points.
The race itself was won by Verstappen, who started from pole and led the pack home with Norris’s McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri slotting into second. But the bigger story wasn’t the race win. It was the season-long consistency, nerves of steel, and just enough grit from Norris to claim the title.
Heading into Abu Dhabi, Norris carried a 12-point buffer over Verstappen, with Piastri still mathematically in contention. As the lights went out and laps ticked by, Norris held firm, navigated tyre management, team strategy and on-track pressure even when confronted with a potential penalty after a tussle with Yuki Tsunoda.
For his team, McLaren, it was a historic moment. Not only did they secure the drivers’ title, but they also wrapped up the constructors’ crown, a double triumph that hadn’t been achieved by the team in years.
