BAND AID IS BACK

Over the years, several versions of the Band Aid song Do They Know It’s Christmas have been recorded.

Now, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original, all the different versions will be combined. The 40th-anniversary version will be called the ultimate mix version.

Some of the world’s most popular artists have all come together over the last 40 years to create different versions of the song. In 1984, the original all-star supergroup came together to record the song. All funds made from selling the music tape were donated to the famine in Ethiopia.

The ultimate mix version is scheduled to be released later this month and will include artists like Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and the late George Michael and Sinead O’Connor.

One Direction’s Liam Payne will also feature as the band’s recording was done before he passed away last month.

The BBC reports that in the past four decades, it’s thought the Band Aid Charitable Trust has raised more than 140 million pounds in total. The money has gone towards long-term development projects and emergency aid. The 2014 version, for example, raised money for the Ebola crisis.
