TOURIST SURVIVES BUNGEE CORD SNAP IN THAILAND
Footage of a 39-year-old tourist who survived when his bungy cord snap went viral this week.
The tourist has requested to only go by his first name, Mike as he wants to avoid online harassment.
Mike, who went to Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park with friends who dared him to bungee jump, took a swan dive off of the podium located 10 stories high.
With only a few milliseconds to go before Mike neared the bottom of his jump, the bungee rope snapped. Luckily, it was over a body of water so the water broke Mike’s fall.
Mike told CNN that the left side of his body was covered in bruises.
“I landed on my left side so the injuries were more serious there. It was as if someone just beat me up real bad.”
According to Mike, the park refunded the cost of his jump. It also paid for ultrasounds scans and x-rays in Thailand.
Nithit Intim, founder of the park, confirmed to CNN that the accident took place and said it was the first time he had seen a cord snap.
“After the cord was broken, our staff got him out of the water immediately, and asked him if he was okay. He said he felt bruised. So we took him to the hospital.”
Even though Mike signed a waiver before he jumped, Intim said the park is willing to pay any further direct medical expenses in Hong Kong if Mike can provide the receipts.”
