TRIBUTES POUR IN FOR BREYTEN BREYTENBACH
Breyten Breytenbach has died. He passed away on Sunday in Paris with his wife Yolande by his side.
Tributes have been pouring in for the famous South African writer and poet ever since his daughter announced his death.

Writer and poet Breyten Breytenbach has been paid tribute to by Cyril Ramaphosa, the Presidency of France under Emmanuel Macron, his daughter and others.
Breytenbach's daughter, Daphnée, paid tribute to her father with a short message posted on her social media after he died in Paris, France, which was announced on Sunday.
Daphnée Breytenbach is a journalist based in France.
In her short tribute, she wrote: “I don’t have the words. I don’t yet have the words to say everything he was. He leaves a huge void. He was the most exceptional being I have ever known. I am immensely proud to call him my father.”
Her post on social media was accompanied by a photo carousel. It showed photos of her and her father, as well as a photo of Breyten and his two grandsons.
South African president Cyril Ramaphosa said: “Today we mourn the passing of Breyten Breytenbach, 85, a humanist whose strident and sustained literary assault on apartheid and its enforcers and endorsers traversed bookstores, domestic bookshelves, lecture halls, art galleries and theatre stages around the world.”
French President Emmanuel Macron also paid tribute to Breytenbach.
