ALCARAZ MAKES HISTORY AND ENDS DJOKOVIC’S AO STREAK

Carlos Alcaraz etched his name even deeper into tennis lore by winning the 2026 Australian Open men’s singles title in a thrilling final against Novak Djokovic.

The 22-year-old Spaniard recovered from a slow start to defeat the 38-year-old legend 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, clinching his first Australian Open crown and completing the coveted Career Grand Slam as the youngest man in history to do so.

Djokovic came out firing, showcasing why he’s one of the greatest ever by taking the first set convincingly. But Alcaraz didn’t let that faze him; he battled back with aggression and tactical brilliance, dominating the second set and riding that momentum through the third.

The fourth set was tense and electric, with both players fighting tooth and nail, but Alcaraz seized his chance and closed it out in four.

At 22 years and 272 days, Alcaraz surpassed Don Budge’s 1938 mark to become the youngest man to hold all four major titles — Australia, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open — a feat only a handful of players have ever achieved.

For Djokovic, this was his first loss in an Australian Open final, ending his perfect 10-0 record at Melbourne Park. He was also chasing a record 25th major title, which would’ve taken him past all competitors in tennis history.

Alcaraz now adds a seventh major to his growing résumé and cements his status as the world No. 1 and a dominant force in men’s tennis.
