SA IS UK’S FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION

South Africa is the ideal holiday destination. That’s according to a travel poll done by the Telegraph newspaper in the United Kingdom.

The Telegraph Travel Awards is an annual poll that covers 20 categories. This was the first time the poll was run since the pandemic.

The categories include everything travel related from hotel groups and ski companies, to airlines, cruise operators and more. Through a public vote, readers of the publication choose the winners.

After coming in at third place in 2017, South Africa climbed higher the following year and emerged as the best travel destination this year.

The previous winner was New Zealand.

Attractions like the Kruger National Park, the Drankensberg Range, Table Mountain, Franschoek and Stellenbosch’s wineries, as well as The Garden Route and Motlatse Canyon were attractions listed.

News24 reports that South Africa was described as “the most accessible” and hailed for its direct flights to either Cape Town or Johannesburg from the UK and its near-identical time zone.

Other African countries that also made it into the top 10 are Kenya at number seven and Botswana at number 10.
