DJOKOVIC FINED AFTER WIMBLEDON FINAL
Former world number one and seven-time Wimbledon champ Novak
Djokovic has been fined by the All England Lawn Tennis Club for racquet abuse.
The Serbian was fined R140,000 for smashing his racquet
against the net post after making a mistake during Sunday’s Wimbledon final in
London.
Djokovic lost against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz which meant he
lost out on his eight Wimbledon titel.
The 20-year-old won the match and the championship title with
a score of 1-6; 7-6 (8/6); 6-1; 3-6; and 6-4.
This wasn’t the first violation the 36-year-old was called
out for during the final. Earlier during the match, umpire Fergus Murphy issued
a Djokovic with a warning for a code violation relating to time.
