SPRINGBOK CAPTAIN ETZEBETH’S DAD DIES

Eben Etzebeth has been on an emotional rollercoaster the last few days.

The high must have been when it was announced that he was chosen to represent the Springboks as their captain during this Saturday’s Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks in New Zealand, only to be followed by the low that his dad Harry passed away on Tuesday.

The sad news was confirmed by Gerhard Ras, a friend of Etzebeth’s father. Ras announced the news on Facebook.

“My old wrestling opponent & father of Springbok rugby captain, Harry Etzebeth, passed away last night (Tuesday). RIP.”

A decision hasn’t been taken on whether Etzebeth will be playing or not.

According to reports, the decision has been left in Etzebeth’s hands. It’s up to him to decide whether he wants to fly back to South Africa or run out for the Boks at the Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland on Saturday.
