GRETA THUNBERG ARRESTED FOR DISOBEYING POLICE ORDER

According to daily Sydsvenskan, climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested for disobeying a police order to leave a climate protest. She was arrested in the city of Malmo in Sweden.

On the day of the protest, Thunberg posted on her Instagram:

“The climate crisis is already a matter of life and death for countless people. We chose to not be bystanders, and instead physically stop the fossil fuel infrastructure. We are reclaiming the future.”

If found guilty, the activist could receive a fine or up to six months in prison.

Prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen explained the reasoning behind her arrest.

“You have the freedom to demonstrate, but you must not demonstrate in such a way that it causes disturbances for others.”

News agencies reached out to the Swedish central prosecutor’s press office and Thunberg’s representatives, but neither could be reached.
