WORLD’S BIGGEST CRUISE SHIP TO SET SAIL SOONER THAN PLANNED

If you’ve always dreamt of taking your family on a cruise, this is the sign you’ve been waiting for.

Royal Caribbean International has just unveiled its latest cruise ship Icon of the Sea.

It’s currently being built at Meyer Turka shipyard in Finland. It’s being built by one of Europe’s leading shipbuilders. If everything goes to plan, the ship could join the Royal Caribbean fleet as early as October instead of only January 2024.

That’s according to Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean International’s president and chief executive.

This fleet is used to owning the bragging rights for having the biggest cruise ship as the world’s current record holder for the largest cruise ship also belongs to Royal Caribbean and is called Wonder of the Seas.

The Icon of the Sea will be able to hold 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members. It will also be home to the world’s largest waterpark at sea, Category 6. This waterpark will feature six record-breaking slides along with seven pools and nine whirlpools.

Even the cabins have been redesigned so that it has a more family focus with most cabins catering for families with extra beds, a tiny sitting room with a TV and some of them even feature fun elements like a slide.
