ELTON JOHN PLAYS FINAL GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL
Legendary singer Elton John played the final concert at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The concert is held annually for the last 50 years on a farm in southwest England.
It’s believed that it was John’s final concert in the United Kingdom.
“I never thought I’d ever play Glastonbury. It’s a very special and emotional night for me,” he told the crowd.
“It might be my very last show in England, in Great Britain, so I’d better play well and entertain you.”
During his performance at Glastonbury, John played an entire set of his hits including Crocodile Rock, I’m Still Sending, and Candle In The Wind.
News24 reports that John dedicated Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me to his “friend” and “inspiration” George Michael, who died on Christmas Day in 2016, and who would have turned 60 on Sunday.
John closed out the concert with a wonderful rendition of Rocket Man. The performance was accompanied by fireworks.
His final words at the concert were: “It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ve had the best, best time. I will never forget you – you are in my head, my heart and my soul.”
The 76-year-old has recently played his final tour in the United States, but his husband David Furnish has said that John won’t stop making music and he’s set to start recording music for his new album soon.
