RYAN REYNOLDS AND ROB MCELHENNEY INVEST IN F1 TEAM

After a successful investment in the football world, actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are now turning their attention to the world of F1.

The two actors, alongside Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, are investing in the F1 team Alpine.

The news was announced by Renault, Alpine’s parent company.

The F1 racing team is based in Britain, is currently fifth in this year’s F1 constructors’ championship, and was recently valued at R16.7 million.

Laurent Rossi, Alpine’s chief executive said “this association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels.

He went on to say that the added investment “boost” would assist with the team’s media profile. Something he believes would support the team’s “performance over the long term”.

The BBC reports that Reynolds and McElhenney completed their takeover at Wrexham in 2021 and the Welsh club were promoted back to the Football League after a 15-year absence when they won the National League title in April.

Fellow investor group RedBird has stakes in both Liverpool Football Club and the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

It also owns the Italian Serie A club AC Milan and has a controlling stake in the French Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
