THREADS HITS 70 MILLION USERS IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS

Twitter has had its fair share of competitors launched over the last few years, but nothing as popular as Threads. In less than 48 hours since its launch, the new app attracted 70 million users.

The Meta brainchild’s launch has been met with lots of enthusiasm from people in 100 countries, except Europeans and not because they weren’t interested. Due to data privacy concerns, the app hasn’t launched in Europe yet.

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg didn’t hold back when he commented on his plan to be a direct competitor for Twitter.

“It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it. Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will.”

Celebs have also been keen to join the new public platform with the likes of Kris Jenner, Jack Harlow, Oprah Winfrey and Gordon Ramsay.

Singer Jennifer Lopez’s first post on the new platform was “Hola Threads! What should we thread about first?!” followed by “Can’t get enough of your threads”.
