The popular TV series Ted Lasso managed to scoop the coveted best comedy category at the 2022 Emmy Awards.
The series stars Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein and tells the story of an American football coach in charge of a British soccer team.
The drama category was ruled by Succession as it won best drama series again. The media dynasty drama series also won in 2020 before the pandemic. This year’s show was the first to be held after the pandemic brought the world and live awards shows to a complete halt.
Other winners include Zendaya for her role in Euphoria and Jean Smart for her role in Hacks. Both Zendaya and Smart have previously won their categories.
South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae was named best drama actor for his portrayal of a poor desperate man in the thriller series Squid Game. The series took the world by storm last year when it was released on Netflix.
RTE reports that the most-lauded show of the night was HBO’s The White Lotus. It won 10 awards including best limited series and acting tropies for Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett.
