TESLA EXPLODES OUTSIDE TRUMP HOTEL
A Tesla Cybertruck has exploded in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person and injuring several others. Officials have confirmed that there aren’t any serious injuries.
Since the explosion on 1 January, it’s been established that the driver was Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado. The 37-year-old was an active-duty soldier who committed suicide just before the blast.
Livelsberger rented the car more than 1,200 kilometres away and then drove it to the hotel on the morning of the explosion.
The car was filled with fuel canisters and firework mortars. It first started to smoke before it exploded.
Local authorities said the type of car used in the blast helped to contain the explosion by sending it vertically instead of outward. This caused the nearby glass windows and doors to not shatter at all.
Sheriff McMahill said during a press conference that he’s “comfortable calling it a suicide with a bombing that occurred immediately after”.
Other items recovered on the scene included a military ID, a passport, two semi-automatic pistols, fireworks, a smartwatch, an iPhone and several credit cards in Livelsberger’s name.
