KLM FLIGHT SKIDS OFF RUNWAY
The last few days have been a tumultuous time for the aviation industry. To add to the woes, a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight had to do an emergency landing and then skidded off the runway.
Flying from Amsterdam, the plane was forced to do an emergency landing after a loud noise was heard which was later identified as a hydraulic failure. Local Norwegian media reported that smoke was coming from the left engine. Pilots called in the emergency and said they couldn’t control the plane.
The Boeing was on its way to Oslo, Norway but had to divert from its route. It landed at the Oslo Torp Sandefjord Airport.
Once the plane landed, it suddenly veered off the tarmac. The airlines said the plane hit the grass area but at low speed.
The airport was closed after the accident and all scheduled flights were moved to Oslo Gardemoen Airport.
The airline said a KLM technical team arrived at the airport “to investigate the circumstances of the incident together with local authorities and the airport by aviation procedure and retrieve the aircraft as soon as possible”.
