SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER MISSES TOURNAMENT DUE TO INJURY
Men’s golf world number one Scottie Scheffler has missed the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
The Sentry tournament has kicked off in Hawaii.
His manager, Blake Smith said while Scottie was preparing dinner on Christmas Day, he sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his hand from a broken glass.
“Small fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.”
The surgery was a success and it’s believed the 28-year-old will be joining the tour again in three to four weeks.
Although his year might not have kicked off in the best way possible, Scheffler had a very successful 2024.
He won the Masters in April and a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Besides winning the TOUR Championship, Scheffler also won six other events on the PGA Tour in 2024.
He also bagged the Hero World Challenge and thanks to him, Team USA won its tenth straight Presidents Cup.
CNN reports that Scheffler is expected to return to competition in mid-January at the American Express tournament at la Quinta, California.
