AIR-CONDITIONED STREETS IN DUBAI SOON A REALITY

It’s no secret that Dubai is scorching hot. In the summer months, people run from one airconditioned building to the next to avoid the dry desert heat.

But, a project called Dubai Walk is about to change that.

It’s still in the early stages, but when completed, it will consist of 6,500 kilometres of walkways located in the city.

Roughly 2,300 km of these walkways will be made up of rehabilitated existing pathways.

The pathways won’t only be located in the city. There will also be scenic walkways, waterfront paths, rural and mountain trails, and city walkways.

A total of 110 pedestrian bridges will also be built to enhance connectivity. This will link major tourist attractions like the Museum of the Future and the Burj Khalifa. These two buildings will be linked through an eye-catching walkway near the museum and will be called the Future Loop. It will be air-conditioned to increase pedestrian mobility from 13% to 25% by 2040.

Because of the size of the project, it’s expected to take more than a decade to complete. A pilot phase has been outlined from 2025 until 2027. Full completion of the project is expected to be done by 2040.
