RETIRED POLICEMAN DISCOVERS UNRELEASED MICHAEL JACKSON SONGS
A retired policeman in the United States has discovered unreleased songs by Michael Jackson.
Gregg Musgrove got the tapes after an associate of his bought a storage unit that contained the recordings.
It’s believed that the storage unit used to belong to Bryan Loren, a music producer who also worked with Sting and Whitney Houston. His current whereabouts are unknown.
The container had cassette tapes and digital audio tapes inside, featuring 12 unreleased tracks Jackson recorded before he released his Grammy-nominated album “Dangerous” in 1991.
Unfortunately, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Jackson’s estate owns the copyright on all the late singer’s musical recordings and compositions. This means none of the tapes can be released publicly.
Some of the tapes include the voices of Jackson and Loren discussing the songs and the creative process.
AFP reports that it wasn’t clear what Musgrove might have paid his associate for the tapes, but he still stands to come out ahead. He plans to offer the tapes to major auction houses, and buyers are expected to line up.
