ELTON JOHN LOST EYESIGHT

Singer and songwriter Elton John has shared that he’s lost his eyesight. This comes after he suffered a severe eye infection a few months ago while in the south of France.

At a gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada musical in London, John said: “I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight. So it’s hard for me to see. But I love to hear it and, boy, it sounded good tonight.”

John, who attended the performance with his husband, David Furnish, wrote the score for the musical. Lauren Weisberger's 2003 book was turned into a movie in 2006, and now it’s a musical in London.

The 77-year-old said it had a massive impact on his work as he’s unable to see a lyric. The infection affected his right eye and his left eye is very bad.

Things are slowly but surely starting to change though.

“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”

During an interview, he thanked “the excellent team of doctors and nurses and (his) family” for taking such good care of him.
