WORLD LEADERS GATHER AT NOTRE DAME
The Notre Dame Cathedral was the setting and its beauty was the reason why many world leaders travelled to Paris this past week.
French president Emmanuel Macron, alongside his wife Brigitte, played host as leaders like US president-elect Donald Trump, current US First Lady Jill Biden, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, Prince William, and many others visited the cathedral for the first time since its reopening.
The rebuilding of Notre Dame took five years after a fire destroyed most of it in 2019.
Leaders from other countries included Belgium, Spain, Monaco, Qatar and Luxembourg.
After the visit to the cathedral, Trump took the opportunity to meet privately with Macron and Zelensky, followed by a meeting with Prince William.
French VIP guests included the outgoing prime minister Michel Barnier and his wife Isabelle, as well as former president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla. Former president Francois Hollande attended with his wife Julie as well.
Macron was meant to speak to those waiting outside to catch a glimpse of the inside of the cathedral as well as the world leaders, but gale force winds have been felt across most of Europe and it forced Macron to deliver his speech inside.
