HUNT ON FOR HEALTHCARE CEO’S MURDERER

A police hunt is on in New York as authorities search for a man believed to have killed the CEO of UnitedHealth.

The suspect approached Brian Thompson from behind while he exited the UnitedHealth office at around 6:45 on Wednesday. He shot him twice in the back.

Thompson, who became CEO of the health insurance company in April 2021, died on the scene.

Police in New York have issued photos of the suspect who wore a hooded jacket, balaclava and a medical mask while he made his way to the scene of the crime and as he fled.

He fled on foot before getting on an electric bike and riding into Central Park.

Police found a backpack similar to the one worn by the suspect near a playground in Central Park. Inside, they found a jacket and Monopoly money.

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said they’re withholding the suspect’s name for now to deny him any advantage.

CCTV footage shows the suspect entering an interstate bus station, but not exiting it. This led police to believe he got on a bus fleeing to another state.

CNN reports that New York police have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the shooter and the FBI has added $50,000 to that reward.
