UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT’S TV SERIES IN HIGH DEMAND

Before he became the most powerful man in Ukraine, Volodymyr was one of the country’s best-known actors.  The 44-year-old comedian-actor starred in Servant Of The People.

The hit comedy show first aired in 2015 and featured Zelensky as the president of the country.

The rights to the show belong to Eccho Rights, a company with offices in Stockholm, Istanbul and London. The company has been inundated with requests to buy the rights to the series.

“It’s been very, very busy. All around the world, people have asked for the rights because they want to broadcast it,” explains Eccho Rights co-founder Nicola Soderlund to News24.

At first they had one request, then that doubled and now they have 20 different requests from all over the world asking for the rights to broadcast the show in their particular countries.

News24 reports that Eccho Rights also has another series produced by Zelensky in its catalogue, Svaty (I-n-Laws).

Before becoming President, Zelensky also participated in Ukraine’s version of Strictly Come Dancing. At the time he was lauded for his swift and elegant dance moves. Since the war, footage of the president dancing in the show has gone viral again.

Zelensky’s wife, Olena is also involved in the entertainment world. The 44-year-old is a screenwriter and was recently included in the list of the 100 most influential Ukrainians by Focus magazine. She took 30th place.
