ABERG HITS HOLE-IN-ONE IN ABU DHABI
Ludvig Aberg stole the spotlight with a stunning hole-in-one at the par-3 eighth during the opening round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The Swede’s tee shot landed just a couple of feet from the pin before dropping in, marking his first ace and injecting a burst of momentum and excitement into the event.
This spectacular moment not only highlighted Aberg’s talent and composure under pressure but also served as a reminder of how a single shot can shift dynamics on the course.
Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry both opened with rounds of 8-under 64 to find themselves tied for the lead.
Fleetwood carded eight birdies in a flawless round, while Lowry recorded nine birdies and just one bogey. Alongside them in that five-way tie: Adrien Saddier, Kazuma Kobori and Richard Sterne.
Kobori had an eagle and six birdies, and Sterne logged two eagles, though he also picked up a couple of bogeys.
While Aberg’s ace grabbed headlines, he ended the round four shots off that early pace.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is a premier DP World Tour event, showcasing world-class golfers competing under desert skies for early-season glory.
