BAYERN SLAMMED BY UEFA

Bayern Munich have found themselves in hot water with UEFA’s disciplinary body after a string of fan-related incidents in the Champions League.

These resulted in hefty fines and a partial stadium closure that’ll hit their home supporters hard next season.

UEFA announced on Wednesday that Bayern were slapped with a €116,000 fine and ordered to shut off access to sectors 111 to 114 at the Allianz Arena for their next European home tie against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on 21 January 21 2026.

That’s because supporters at a recent clash with Sporting CP blocked public passageways and set off fireworks, breaching UEFA’s safety rules.

The fine isn’t just a one-off penalty, either. Bayern picked up additional sanctions for trouble at their Arsenal match, where crowd disturbances, objects thrown onto the pitch and “messages inappropriate for a sporting event” saw the club handed further financial penalties totalling tens of thousands more.

It’s a tough break for the Bavarians, especially with part of the punishment being the enforced closure of stands that usually help create one of Europe’s most intimidating atmospheres.

While another partial South Stand closure, covering the entire Tribune, was also on the cards, UEFA has put that sanction on a two-year probationary period, meaning it won’t take effect unless more incidents occur.

Club officials have acknowledged the punishments and say they’re reviewing fan behaviour policies to avoid repeat issues. But fans might feel aggrieved, with many arguing that passionate support shouldn’t be penalised if it doesn’t threaten safety.
