MILLER AND DE KOCK CASH IN AT IPL AUCTION
South African cricket fans have plenty to smile about after the recent IPL 2026 mini-auction. Seasoned Proteas stars David Miller and Quinton de Kock secured new contracts that’ll fatten both their pay packets and their franchise lineups.
Veteran middle-order dynamo Miller, 36, didn’t go under the hammer for big bucks, but he did find a home. The Delhi Capitals snapped him up at his base price of INR 2 crore (about R3.7-million), a solid deal for a player known for his finishing flair in tense T20 chases.
Miller had been released by the Lucknow Super Giants after a tough previous campaign, and Capitals bosses clearly reckon he’s still got plenty to offer.
Meanwhile, former white-ball international Quinton de Kock found his way back into the IPL fold with the Mumbai Indians, who picked him up at INR 1 crore (around R1.9-million). His move is being hailed as a smart bit of business, especially since MI were working with one of the tiniest remaining purses at the auction.
They weren’t the only South Africans to cash in. Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje also secured base-price deals, adding a few extra million to their bank accounts after being scooped up on auction day.
