TONGUE CALLED UP AS ENGLAND MAKE ONE CHANGE FOR THIRD ASHES TEST

England have made a single adjustment to their side for the third Ashes Test against Australia in Adelaide, bringing in Josh Tongue to replace Gus Atkinson.

The move comes as England look to bounce back in the series after losing the first two Tests and falling behind 2–0 in the five-match contest.

Tongue’s inclusion gives England extra pace options for what’s shaping up to be a crucial encounter at Adelaide Oval.

The 26-year-old Warwickshire pacer has been impressive in domestic cricket and brings fresh energy to a bowling attack that’s struggled to contain Australia’s batting lineup in the first two Tests. Meanwhile, Atkinson drops to the bench, having made little impact in the series so far.

The rest of England’s XI remains unchanged, with Ben Stokes leading the side, supported by his experienced core, including Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and all-rounders Chris Woakes and Sam Curran. The selectors have opted for continuity while also injecting a bit of pace and unpredictability through Tongue, hoping to spark a turnaround.

Australia, on the other hand, will aim to consolidate their dominance on home soil. England’s bowlers will need to step up against a strong batting lineup featuring David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith, all of whom have been in fine form.

The Adelaide Oval pitch is expected to assist seamers early on, meaning Tongue could play a pivotal role if he adapts quickly to match conditions.

The Test, starting December 17, is effectively a must-win for England if they want to keep the Ashes alive.
