CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA STRIPPED OF ITS AUTHORITY
In what has been called "a very sad day for cricket in South Africa', Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, has decided to stop funding Cricket South Africa (CSA).
This means that CSA no longer has the right to run the sport in the country. It will also not receive any funding from government.
In a statement released on Friday, the Minister said he had applied his mind to the matter and there were those who were irrational on the members' council.
Members of the interim council voted against the restructuring of the CSA, and the Minister said his decision was based on this irrational behaviour.
The Minister said that the decision affects not only the council, but the millions of fans, the players, other employees as well as the sport's traditions and history in South Africa.
