DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ JOHN BLACK DIES

Drake Hogestyn has died of cancer at the age of 70. He was known for his role as John Black on the long-running US soap opera Days of Our Lives.

The news of his death was announced by his family on Saturday.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn. He was thrown the curve ball of his life when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he faced the challenge with incredible strength and determination.

“After putting up an unbelievable fight, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.”

A statement released by Days of Our Lives said “We love him and we will miss him all the Days of our Lives.

Hogestyn made his debut on the soap in 1986 and appeared in more than 4,200 episodes. During this time, he earned a Soap Opera Digest Award in 1994 and 1995.

In 2005 he won the award again.
