ELON MUSK TAKES OVER AS TWITTER CEO
Billionaire Elon Musk has stepped in to take over as the new CEO of Twitter after buying the company.
Musk showed interest in buying the social media company before he then decided not to go ahead with the deal. When Twitter caught wind of Musk’s decision, they threatened to sue him.
Musk had until Friday to seal the deal. On Wednesday he was seen at Twitter’s offices talking to engineers and executives.
Once the deal was done, Musk moved into the corner office and started in his new role.
His first point of action was to fire some of the top executives at the company.
This included letting go of the former company CEO Parag Agrawal, Twitter CFO Ned Segal, policy executive Vijaya Gadde, and general council Sean Edgett.
9 to 5 reports that the layoffs don’t seem to have occurred in a friendly situation. Anonymous New York Times sources say that at least one of the executives was “escorted out of Twitter’s office”. None of the executives mentioned by the report responded to requests for comment.
Rumours are doing the rounds that Musk isn’t done with the firing yet as more employees’ names are on his hit list.
