IRELAND STILL TOP OF RANKS DESPITE SPRINGBOKS’ PERFORMANCE

Even though the Springboks are the Rugby World Cup and Rugby Championship champions, Ireland is still at the top of the world rankings.

The Springboks beat Argentina on Saturday in Nelspruit, winning the Rugby Championship. Even though the Springboks won the title, it wasn’t enough for them to make it to the top of the world rankings.

That means Ireland is still in the top position with 92.12 points. South Africa is in second place with 91.77 points and New Zealand is in third place with 88.70 points.

In fourth place is the Rugby World Cup hosts France with 86.96 and in fifth place is England with 85.40 points.

The South African reports that South Africa was unable to reclaim the top spot in the rankings as victory over Argentina won’t have any impact on their rating due to the 7.47 points difference between the teams before home weighting is factored in. Earlier on Saturday, New Zealand were also unable to improve their rating with victory over Australia, which they also achieved with ease.
