KELLY CLARKSON’S EX-HUSBAND DIES
Brandon Blackstock has died. He was 48.
Blackstock was the ex-husband of pop star Kelly Clarkson.
The news of his death was announced through a family statement.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon had battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.
“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.”
Earlier this year, Clarkson’s absence from her own TV talk show called The Kelly Clarkson Show, and some performances left many puzzled. At the time, many thought her absence might have to do with her own health.
Celebrity stand-in presenters included Josh Groban, Brooke Shields, and Wanda Sykes.
Shortly before Blackstock’s death, Clarkson cancelled the rest of her Las Vegas residency shows for August. The rumours led to Clarkson sharing personal information on social media.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Clarkson and Blackstock had two kids together: daughter River (11) and son Remington (9).
