23 INJURED AS SAUDI CARNAVAL RIDE COLLAPSES
A carnival ride in Saudi Arabia collapsed, leading to 23 people being injured. Three of the injuries have been confirmed as critical.
The accident took place on Wednesday at an amusement park located in Taif, an area in the Al-Hada near the city of Jeddah. A video has been circulated on several news outlets’ websites as well as social media.
The ride, called the 360 Big Pendulum, snapped in two while passengers were buckled in. One half of the ride smashed into the other half and then hit the floor at full force.
While some of the injured visitors to the amusement park could be treated for their injuries right there and then, others had to be transported to a hospital nearby.
Once the palace was alerted, Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Abdulaziz ordered the immediate closure of the amusement park.
An investigation is currently underway, and no further information regarding the incident has been shared.
