SHOOTER KILLS FOUR IN NEW YORK
A man entered an office tower in Manhattan on Tuesday and killed four people with a semi-automatic rifle.
The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Las Vegas resident Shane Tamura. It’s been reported that Tamura has a history of mental illness.
According to New York Mayor Eric Adams, the shooter shot himself in the chest after killing four people. He carried a note with him blaming the National Football League (NFL) for his generative brain disease.
Adams told CBS News: "The note alluded to that he felt he had CTE, a known brain injury for those who participate in contact sports. He appeared to have blamed the NFL for his injury."
It’s believed the shooter was looking for the NFL office, but got off at the wrong floor and entered a private equity firm called Blackstone. Other offices in the same tower block include KPMG and a Republic of Ireland consulate office.
Reuters reports that according to the police account, as soon as Tamura entered the lobby, he turned to his right and fatally shot a New York Police Department officer, Didarul Islam, 36, who came from Bangladesh and had been on the force for three years. Islam was part of the building's security detail, police said.
