PRANK GONE WRONG AT TOUR DE FRANCE
A spectator at this year’s Tour de France was hoping to reach legendary status among his friends… But the complete opposite took place at the end of stage 17 on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old man from Montelimar was dressed in full cycling attire when he hopped over the security barriers with his bike. He attempted to cross the finish line, but the security team in place was quick on their feet.
A video published by the man on social media features him talking into the camera while referring to the race leader:
“He thinks he's the one who's going to cross the finish line first; he doesn't know that there's a guy with a bike just behind a barrier who's going to win the race. I'm going to win the race.”
The final seconds of the video show the man jumping the barriers and riding down the track while shocked spectators look on.
That’s when security noticed the track invasion and literally jumped onto the prankster. He swerved and missed the first security guard, who struck the man hard on his back, but the second guard managed to tackle him to the ground.
It left the prankster flying and hitting the tar road with a bang.
Seconds later, Jonathan Milan and the rest of the peloton arrived without knowing about what had just happened.
The prankster was taken into custody by local police.
