TWO METEOR SHOWERS HAPPENING THIS WEEK

If you’re a fan of the galaxy and all the beauty it has to offer, you’ll love the night sky this week.

According to the American Meteor Society, two meteor showers will take place this week: The Alpha Capricornids and the Southern Delta Aquariids. These meteors are expected to appear often, with three to five per hour predicted.

The Alpha Capricornids meteor shower, which forms part of the Capricorn constellation, is expected to feature fireballs that would look like shooting stars to the naked eye. Although it's visible from all over the world, those lucky enough to be in the Southern Hemisphere will have the best views, especially in Africa and Australia.

But wait… There’s more. Only hours later, the Southern Delta Aquariids should reach their peak activity.

It’s predicted that the Southern Delta Aquariids will be an even bigger shower than the Capricornids. The Southern Delta Aquarids will also be more visible in the Southern Hemisphere, with 20 to 25 meteors expected per hour, but people in the Northern Hemisphere will still be treated to a show with 10 to 15 meteors per hour.
