SA’S MOST EXPENSIVE HOUSE SOLD TO LOCAL BUYER

South Africa’s most expensive house has been sold for an eyewatering R157 500 000. A local buyer bought Number 5 Nettleton Road in Clifton.

The house is situated in what is known as the crown jewel of the local real estate scene. Clifton is renowned for its exquisite real estate, thanks to its prime location and breathtaking views.

The mansion features five en-suite bedrooms and two self-contained staff quarters, a fully equipped gym, elevator access to every floor and a private cinema.

The inside/outside areas flow seamlessly into one thanks to a double-volume entertainment area, a landscaped garden on the mountain slopes, and a spacious terrace with an infinity pool overlooking Clifton.

What makes this sale remarkable is that the buyer is a South African. Property in Clifton is mostly bought by foreigners with international capital investment plans.

Lance Cohen from Lance Real Estate was the estate agent who facilitated the buy.

“All I can tell you is that the buyer is a South African,” he said. “It’s nice to know that South Africans are buying high-end properties – this also signals great confidence in the Western Cape property market.”

Who the buyer is remains a mystery.
