KID GETS $800,000 AFTER MCDONALD’S NUGGET BURN

A jury in Florida has decided that a “dangerously hot” McNugget was worth $800,000 in damages.

In 2019, then four-year-old Olivia Caraballo opened her Happy Meal in the McDonald’s drive-thru near For Lauderdale in Florida when the nugget fell into her lap and burnt her leg.

Caraballo’s family wanted $15 million in damages.

The now eight-year-old was awarded the money from McDonald’s the franchise owner Upchurch Foods for pain and suffering, and mental anguish. This included $400,000 for the past four years and $400,000 for the future.

Caraballo’s mom, Philana Holmes called the decision momentous.

“I’m actually just happy that the listened to Olivia’s voice and the jury was able to decide a fair judgment.

“I’m happy with that. I honestly had no expectations, so this is more than fair for me.”

McDonald’s lawyers argued that Caraballo should have only received $156,000 because her pain ended once the wound healed in three weeks.”
