KIM KARDASHIAN JEWEL HEIST TRIAL UNDERWAY
X years
after reality star Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in Paris and robbed of
her jewellery, the trial of the men responsible for the theft has started.
The trial takes
place in Paris and started on Monday.
The group
of elderly men dubbed “the grandpa gang” broke into the apartment where
Kardashian and her then husband Kanye West were staying during Paris Fashion
Week in 2016.
Kardashian
was alone at the time of the robbery and was tied up by the gang.
The men are
part of 10 suspects on trial and could face the risk of being sentenced to life
imprisonment.
The other
four men and one woman are charged with complicity in the heist along with the unauthorised
possession of a weapon.
Kardashian
is expected to travel to Paris on 13 May to give evidence in the trial. It’s
expected that the verdicts will be announced on 23 May.
Frank
Berton, a lawyer for one of the accused said he hoped the trial won’t be
affected by Kardashian’s fame.
“This trial attracts international attention because of who
the plaintiff, the victim, is,” Berton said.
