LEGO MINI FIGURE SOLD TO RAISE FUNDS FOR UKRAINE

It seems that people all over the world are doing their bit to show their support for Ukraine as the country is invaded by Russian troops.

A LEGO retailer in Chicago called Citizen Brick has produced custom printed LEGO products and accessories featuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as well as miniature versions of Molotov Cocktails.

The minifigs were sold to raise money for Direct Relief, a humanitarian charity based in the United States. The initiative raised a total of R248 615 and 100% of the proceeds have been donated to help with medical equipment in Ukraine.

Only a limited number of minifigs and bricks were made for this cause. The items were sold during an online sale.

The miniature Zelensky figurine was sold for R1 503. The Molotov Cocktails sold for R150 each. The combined sales of both the figurine and the Molotov Cocktails meant a total of R248 615 could be donated to Direct Relief.

In an Instagram post, Citizen Brick showed their appreciation for their customers who supported them.

“A huge thank you to everyone who donated to yesterday’s fundraiser for Ukraine. Through the sale of the President Zelensky minifigs (and Molotov Cocktails, which got our last post pulled down. Go figure.) we were able to raise $16 540! The entire amount was donated to @directrelief to assist their efforts to bring medical supplies to those in need.”
