RUGBY PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES ANNOUNCED
Lukhanyo Am has been announced as a nominee for the 2022 World Rugby Men’s Player of the Year.
He is one of four nominations. The other nominees are Ireland’s Johnny Sexton and Josh van der Flier, as well as France’s Antony du Pont.
Du Pont was awarded the title in 2021.
Am, who had to undergo knee surgery in September after injuring his knee during the Rugby Championship against Wallabies in Sydney, has already won in the local rugby awards season.
He was named the South African Players’ Player of the Year. This award is voted for by the professional rugby players in the country. No external votes are allowed.
There are several World Rugby award categories. The prestigious ceremony will take place in Monaco on Sunday where the Men’s Player of the Year will be announced.
