COUPLE TRAVELS THE WORLD IN OLD AMBULANCE

A British couple, Lawrence Dodi and Rachel Nixon, has bought an old ambulance with the aim of using it as their mode of transport to travel around the world.

The two veterinarians, and their dog, are currently a year into their global trip. They aim to reach more than 50 countries in a bid to beat the Guinness World Record for the longest journey in an ambulance.

The former private ambulance is a white Land Rover Defender with green and yellow stripes, so it attracts quite a lot of attention.

During an interview with CNN, Lawrence said that their mode of transport attracts attention no matter where they find themselves in the world.

“We’ve never had anyone approach us for medical assistance. But we get a lot of stares. In traffic, everyone’s looking at you.”

CNN reports that after they purchased the vehicle, which still had all of the fittings and fixtures of an ambulance inside along with a stretcher, Nixon came across an article about a group who were trying to set a record for the longest distance driven in a fire truck.
