INFLUENCER HITTING GOLF BALL INTO GRAND CANYON COULD FACE CHARGES
An influencer has made international headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Katie Sigmond is an influencer with more than 6.9 million followers on TikTok.
On 26 October she posted a video on her Snapchat account. The video featured a woman hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon near Mather Point.
Although she hasn’t been named publicly by authorities, someone managed to screen-record the video before she removed it from her Snapchat account, and posted it on Reddit. After authorities reached out to the public, someone directed them in her direction.
Although Sigmond hasn’t commented on the matter in public, it’s very clear that it is here in the video as it looks like her and she is known for posting golf videos to her different social media feeds.
Since the video went viral, Grand Canyon Law Enforcement claims there could be charges pending against her.
Global News reported that the Grand Canyon National Park shared a photo of the golf club mid-air and condemned the dangerous act: “Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?”
So far, no charges have been laid against her and it’s not clear whether authorities will go through with it now that Sigmond has taken down the video.
